Ubisoft pushed game update 1.3.0 live for Star Wars Outlaws in recent hours, ostensibly to continue improving the game’s stealth mechanics, amongst other things. Unfortunately, a PS5 screen tearing bug also made its way in, with players quickly noticing the telltale “rippling” effect while the game is in motion and navigating menus.
Kotaku raised the alarm on this one, noting players on platforms like X and Reddit were reporting the issue. Apparently, the problems are particularly pronounced while playing in performance mode, which is probably most people on PS5. The community has already tried various home remedies, such as restarting, disabling 120Hz, and switching to 40fps, to no avail.
In a pretty damning indictment of the current state of things, on the game’s subreddit, one fan wrote: “I just hope this gets fixed soon as the visuals are the only thing that the game really has going for it and having to deal with screen tearing is just getting in the way of enjoying the game overall.”
