Facebook Combines Monetization Tools, Simplifying Creator Income

Facebook along with parent company Meta has launched a revamped monetization program designed to make earning easier for creators. Meta’s new system consolidates multiple existing features, including In-stream Ads, Ads on Reels, and the Performance Bonus, into a single program.

It covers various content formats like videos, photos, Reels, and text posts. The change is part of Facebook’s effort to simplify the monetization process for its creators while maintaining the same performance-based earnings model.

Creators Can Monetize a Wider Range of Content

Since Facebook introduced monetization in 2017, creators have earned over $2 billion from the platform. With the launch of this beta program, creators will have the opportunity to monetize a broader array of content. Previously, many only made money through one type of content, such as Reels. Now, creators can earn across multiple formats under one program, allowing them to reach a larger audience and increase their revenue potential.

The company reports that around one-third of its creators have previously taken advantage of more than one of its monetization options, indicating that many have missed out on additional income opportunities. With this update, Facebook aims to give creators a better chance to maximize their earnings by simplifying access to various revenue streams.

New Centralized Dashboard for Better Insights

To help creators manage their earnings, Facebook has introduced an updated dashboard. The centralized tool, found in both the Meta Business Suite and Professional Dashboard, allows users to view earnings across all content formats in one place. By streamlining this process, creators can track performance and optimize their content strategy more easily.

Facebook plans to continue improving the dashboard based on feedback from creators during the beta phase. The goal is to provide detailed insights into which types of content are generating the most revenue, helping users fine-tune their approach.

How to Join the Program

Currently, the beta program is invite-only. Facebook has already begun sending out invitations to a million creators who are actively earning on the platform, with plans to extend these invitations over the next few months. Those interested in joining can express their interest through the Facebook for Creators website. The full rollout is expected by 2025.

If you’re already monetizing on Facebook, invitations will be visible in the Meta Business Suite or the Professional Dashboard. Facebook advises creators to verify any invitations through official channels to avoid potential scams.

The existing monetization programs—In-stream Ads, Ads on Reels, and the Performance Bonus—will eventually be phased out. While the beta is still running, creators can choose whether or not to participate in the new system. However, once a creator opts into the new program, they won’t be able to revert to the older ones.

Same Payout Structure, More Opportunities

Although Facebook is streamlining the monetization process, it’s not changing how payouts are calculated. Creators’ earnings will still depend on how their content performs in terms of engagement, views, and plays. This ensures that those who have already succeeded under the previous system can expect a smooth transition. However, they’ll now have the added benefit of earning from additional content formats they may not have previously explored.

While Facebook is combining its monetization programs into one, Instagram has taken a different approach. Creators on Instagram can still earn through features like subscriptions, fan gifts, and brand partnerships, reflecting how Meta is handling monetization across its platforms in a way that’s tailored to each audience.
