Google AdSense stops its work in Russia
The Google AdSense contextual advertising service will completely halt its activities on the Russian internet and disable user accounts from Russia, reports The Moscow Times.
“We are deactivating all AdSense accounts whose location is specified as Russia. This means that earning revenue from monetization through such accounts will not be possible,” said a statement from the Google Payments team.
Earnings for July will be paid between August 21 and 26 if payment reception is not paused in the account and payment thresholds are reached.
AdSense allows for the automatic placement of text and graphic advertisements on websites that fit the context of the information on those sites.
Google AdSense allowed Russian bloggers to earn on YouTube even after monetization was disabled in 2022, albeit in smaller amounts.
Thus, site owners and bloggers working on YouTube will completely lose access to Google AdSense and the services provided by the advertising network.
Recall that the Russian authorities have restricted YouTube’s operations, reducing the access speed to the service to a blocking equivalent level. Russian YouTube users are complaining about a complete stop of the video hosting.
The head of the Russian State Duma’s information policy committee Alexander Khinshtein stated that the loading speed of YouTube on desktop computers in Russia may decrease by 70%, which is an enforced measure aimed against the administration of the foreign resource.
